Orthopedic Institute was founded in 1972 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The group has steadily grown in size and scope, with 16 physicians and over 180 employees. Today, Orthopedic Institute is the largest, independent orthopedic specialty group in the region. At Orthopedic Institute, we recognize that specialization breeds excellence. Consequently, under one roof, we are organized into specialty centers that assemble teams of specialists that are fellowship-trained - the highest level of training available in the United States requiring an additional year of study in an orthopedic specialty. Areas of focus include the Spine Center, Sports Medicine Center, Lower Extremity Center, Joint Center and the Upper Extremity Center. The group also offers physical medicine and has recently added a fellowship-trained pain management physician. But it is more than just our size and experience that sets us apart. It is our complete devotion to understanding the needs of each individual that makes us unique. By using the most advanced medical technologies available, our physicians are able to treat virtually every bone and joint in the body. We help improve the quality of life for people of all ages, all walks of life, and all levels of need.
